La mas grande y una de las mas hermosas sinagogas de Estambul, fue establecida en 1938, en un piso de un colegio, debido al aumento de judíos viviendo en los alrededores. En 1948 se decidio construir la actual sinagoga con el nombre de Neve Shalom, la cual fue inaugurada en 1951 en presencia del entonces Hajam Bashi (Gran Rabino) de Turquia, Rabi Rafael Saban.
En 1986, dos terroristas ingresaron disparando al Bet HaKeneset, asesinando a 23 personas. Además el edificio fue dañado, siendo reinaugurado al año siguiente. En el año 2003, unos terroristas explotaron una bomba en el frente de la sinagoga destruyendolo, ademas de llevarse las vidas de 6 judios. El edificio fue reconstruido y rededicado a mediados de 2004.

The greater and one of the most beautiful synagogues of Istambul, it was established in 1938, on the first floor of a school, due to the increase of Jews living in the environs. In 1948 was decided to build the present synagogue with the name of Neveh Shalom, which was inaugurated in 1951 in the presence of the then Hacham Bashi (Chief Rabbi) of Turkey, Rabbi Rafael Saban. In 1986, two terrorists entered to the Bet HaKeneseth shooting to the people inside, assassinating to 23 worshippers. In addition the building was damaged, being rededicated the following year. In 2003, terrorists exploded a bomb in the front of the synagogue destroying it, besides to take the lives of 6 Jews. The building was rebuilt and rededicated in the middle of 2004.
